Events at Rushmore Shadows Resort
Located only 20 minutes from our beautiful resort you will find a wonderful piece of history. Built into a massive granite wall, our founding fathers faces have been forever memorialized in the black hills of South Dakota. These 60 foot structures were carved by one man, Gutzon Borglum, and his son from 1927-1941. There is also a museum while you’re here you can also mountain bike, fish, hike geocache and more! We highly encourage you take the trip out to see Mount Rushmore and experience a little history for yourself!
We are on the road to Mount Rushmore.
From the comfort of your own vehicle observe black bears, elk, mountain lions, buffalo, reindeer and other wildlife in their natural environment. After you drive take a wildlife walk around our area where you can view park offspring, smaller animals and the must see baby bears.
Bring your family to Old MacDonald’s Farm in Rapid City and meet more than 100 farm animals in our hands-on environment. This beautiful farm on the road to Mount Rushmore is a great place to play with, feed and even bottle feed some of the many friendly animals. Enjoy pony rides, tours in our kid-sized tractor train, a picnic area, and a playground, plus our gift shop has farm-related toys and keepsakes for both big and little farmers
Combine a 40 minute cabin tour with our other activities for hours of family fun that will turn into a lifetime of memories. After you tour our Mystery House and dig up some treasures in our geode mine why not cool down with some ice cream? Then browse our huge gift shop full of souvenirs from the Cosmos Mystery Area and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it on our deck that overlooks the amazing surrounding wilderness.
