Winter is upon us here at Gettysburg Battlefield Resorts in South Central Pennsylvania!
“In November, the earth is growing quiet. It is making its bed, a winter bed for flowers and small creatures. The bed is white and silent, and much life can hide beneath its blankets.” – Cynthia Rylant
What an October! From Oktoberfest to Pampering Our Pets to three fun-filled weekends of ghosts and goblins and then … November. Following the lull of September and the craziness of October, November is a welcomed friend. November is also a time of reflection, a time of gratitude, a time of thanksgiving. We honor our veterans this month and thank them for their service. At the resort, we acknowledge all the blessings we have received this year. We are grateful for our new management team, Jaron Starner and James Curtis. They had big, big shoes to fill, and they did that and more. We are thankful for a recharged dedicated Maintenance team, led by Wally Michalk. We are blessed with the most dedicated Housekeeping and Groundskeeping teams, who have worked so hard to make our resort a beautiful, welcoming space. Our Activities team was blessed to have the full support of every single staff member.
Most of all, we are grateful to you, our wonderful members. You are the reason GBR is a community, a family, rather than just a place to set up camp. Throughout the year, members volunteered to help with some of our bigger, busier events, and built an essentially new dog park. Members stocked our local food bank, raised money for local Wounded Warriors, filled baskets of supplies for the Adams County Animal Shelter, made blankets for Project Linus and overflowed our Toys for Tots boxes during our Christmas in July Weekend. We would be remiss if we didn’t give a special shout-out to the Boo Crew, who put the haunt in GBR’s Halloween – we could never do it without your creativity and dedication.
November also is a time of projects, planning, and preparation. Projects that could not be started during the peak of season are completed. One such project will make Sip and Plays possible in the Dog Park. Dogs will be able to get water to drink between playing fetch and tag. The store plans and prepares to receive inventory in the Spring, and the maintenance team prepares for the winter season. In Activities, planning for the 2023 season has already begun for new and returning themed weekends and contracts are being prepared for 2023’s entertainment. Have any ideas for themed weekends next year? Let us know at gbractivities@travelresorts.com!

As the weather gets a little colder each night, we all snuggle one step closer to the campfire. The leaves have almost finished falling and everything looks beautiful. What a perfect season we have here in Georgia.
I see the colours everywhere as I drive around this beautiful place, we call Rocky Fork Ranch.
Goodbye to December and we are giving our thanks to all the members that were with us during the BIG thanksgiving feast.
Even though the camping season has come and gone we are still busy here at the resort. Learn more about the resort in the February Newsletter!
