Here in Gettysburg, we couldn’t describe March any better than that. Outside the wind is blowing and although we have been teased with a couple days of Spring-kissed weather, it is decidedly chilly. Luckily, the Lodge is warm and cozy, the fireplace is ablaze and the aroma of hot coffee from the store like a winter perfume.

The expression March “comes in like a lion and out like a lamb,” is certainly true for weather and particularly in Southcentral PA. However, when it comes to preparation around the resort, March comes in like a lamb and out like a lion. March is our final month before many of you will be coming to your home away from home, and we are busy making sure the resort is ready to go! Landscaping is busy starting the plants that will dress up the resort in a beautiful array of scents and colors.

The store is brimming with new inventory and have been made for the Easter Bunny, and eggs are waiting to be filled with candy. Housekeeping has stocked supplies in preparation for a busy season and Maintenance is fixing the last items on their winter punch list. The new and improved sunroom is near completion with a new camp-themed play zone for kids, and comfortable eating for family members of all ages. New paint, lighting and décor gives the whole sunroom an updated, sleek but stylish but still family-friendly appeal or as Jaron, our manager describes it “having that Chip and Johanna vibe.”

In Activities, entertainment is booked, food trucks have been scheduled and new activities on the resort will debut this year. Eggs for children are waiting to be filled with candy; eggs for the adult egg hunt – well that is another thing all together! New bags have been ordered for our weekly cornhole tournament, and new basketballs, gaga balls and volleyballs are on their way. We will also be announcing a special way to honor a family member (2 or 4-legged) and help GBR go green for Earth Day. The GBR Amazing Race, at the end of April, is going to be so much fun, and for families not participating in the Race, there will be a special event just for the kids!

April just can’t come fast enough!
