February Newsletter, 2024

“While it is February, one can taste the full joys of anticipation. Spring stands at the gate with her finger on the latch.”  –  Patience Strong

What an appropriate quote to start February’s newsletter! Spring is definitely knocking at the gate. Robins hop merrily around our wildlife area; the grass is greening, and a few crocuses are cautiously reaching for the sun. Here at GBR we are happily anticipating the return of our members and the start of a wonderful camping season.  Our beautiful new tent area, with shade, electric and a water station is ready for those members who enjoy traditional camping!  The Eisenhower cabin, formally used for Member Services and upgrades, has had a major makeover and now will now house Activities! We are so excited to have the option of using an indoor space to have activities, and a kitchen so we can offer cooking classes!  Look for themed weekends starting with Easter, and every weekend beginning in May. Our Campground Concierge program is restarting this year and will also be located in the Eisenhower. If you are looking for things to do in Gettysburg and the surrounding area, come see us! We can even recommend local restaurants, make reservations, or help you plan a special activity at your site! The Concierge’s office will tentatively be open Thursdays-Saturdays from 9 am-12 pm. The store is also getting a makeover, with fresh paint and exciting new inventory! We also are currently reviewing applications for our new extended stay program. If you are interested in staying with us from April 1st to November 1st, please contact the store as soon as possible, as sites for the extended program are limited. Maintenance, Housekeeping and Landscaping have all been busy as a beehive, from digging new lines for electricity to the tent area, ordering supplies to keep our Lodge, bathhouses, and cabins clean and welcoming, and prepping our wonderful flower gardens. Entertainment has been booked for the season with some new bands we think our members will really enjoy and supplies for some new exciting crafts are being ordered. Speaking of new, we are going to have some new faces in our staff! They are excited to be part of the GBR team and can’t wait to introduce themselves to our members!  Lastly while historically February is associated with romantic love, in modern times Valentine’s Day has evolved to love of all kinds.  We want you to know we love and appreciate our members and wish you a Valentine’s Day filled with love and joy.  May it extend to all your days throughout the year!
