Northshore Landing Resort, October Newsletter
We are so excited for this month as we approach the winter season. We have a lot of goodies this month and will end with a bang for a personal favourite, HALLOWEEN!!!
Bass Lake had a super nice September. The weather was perfect, New York weather with some very warm fall temperatures. We were able to keep the lower pool open until September 27th. Yes, the last weekend open was pretty chilly. We had some large water leaks that had to be repaired, and we appreciate all the support and patience from our members during the times when we had to turn the water off to the entire resort.
As we said goodbye to summer and hello to fall, your BLR staff began thinking about the end of year activities and Halloween. See below for more information on Halloween. We closed the upper pool right after Labor Day, and our Café hours changed to Friday and Saturdays only. We will be completing our new well installation during the week of October 18th. We dug a new well at the end of 2019, and during our “lost” year of COVID, didn’t get to complete the installation. This past summer we had to purchase water again, as our well cannot keep up with the high use of water during our busy, hot weekends.
On October 15th, we will winterize the resort and blow out all the water lines in the campsites. When October weather remains nice, campsites are still available, but we will have a central location to fill all your water tanks before you go to your campsite. Winter Operations will begin on October 12th, and we will begin to close down all facilities and suspend all activities until May of 2022. Be sure to ask about our Winter Operations when you make your reservations or give us a call at the resort for additional details.
Although there was still a demand for food services after Labor Day, we are no different from any other Company during the COVID pandemic. Unfortunately, we don’t have enough staff to work more days. Our BLR operations staff and the Café staffing levels were impacted by not being able to hire enough employees this year, while also adjusting to the availability of the employees who needed to be quarantined. A big thank you to the many members that pitched in and helped out in the café and also with the recreation activities.
We kicked off September with Labor Day which led us into quieter weekday activities. Our Apple Fest Weekend was fun and we had a few entries for the apple pie baking contest, with many more people wanting to judge. During the Donut Race, on Apple Fest Weekend, we had many people participate in how fast you can eat your donut without hands, while it was swinging on a string. And the Ault Craft turned out nice. We also hosted the Chili Cookoff in September and there were many judges for the all the entries. The Pinata Party and Surprise Bingo were also a big hit. And we ended September with our Tailgate Party, celebrating the football season.
Bass Lake may enter the winter season during October, but before that happens, there’s still a lot of action going on. Our First 2 weekends of October will be our Halloween celebrations. Both weekends are exactly alike, with the exception of the adult Friday Night Costume Party. The bands will also be different each weekend. On October 1st, the band will be Flipside and on October 8th, the band will be Freeway. The activities are planned and listed on the campersAPP. Reminder to everyone that will be coming out on October 2nd and 9th for Halloween activities that most roads into the campsite areas will be closed for trick or treating between the hours 2:00pm and 3:30pm and then again from 7:30 to 10:00pm. If you plan on arriving for a campsite during those 2 time periods, you will be asked to wait in parking lots until the specific activities are completed. You can also park your extra vehicles away from your campsite during those periods if you know that you will have to depart.
We are asking everyone to participate in our fundraiser for our local food pantry again during our Halloween weekends. We will be selling tickets to the Haunted Maze for 50 cents each, plus a non-perishable food donation. Please feel free to bring additional non-food donations for this fundraiser. Each year, we donate and help fill our local food pantry with these items which help our local community so much. BLR provides a major economic boost to our community, and we want to help as much as possible.
Happy camping, we look forward to seeing you…. Travel safely.

We are really excited for October here on the ranch! Our first weekend is Headless horseman weekend. We will have trick or treating, site decorating, costume contests, rides to the pumpkin patch and all the usual Halloween fun
October has arrived and our season will be coming to an end later this month. With that said we do still have a few fun weekends to go.
Fall is fast approaching, and signs of its arrival are all over the resort! There are planters of mums and hay bale decor all around the Lodge, and the Halloween Committee has been spotted in the Pavilion!
Luna Sands is gearing up for a busy winter. As we depart summer and move into fall, the weather is still hot and muggy. Don’t despair though, because the middle of October things starts to make a turn and you’ll feel like fall has finally arrived.
Its Spooky Season! We are super excited for all the events we have planned; we can’t let the cat out of the bag for all planned, but you know it’s going to be a Spooktacular time!
September was fun with celebrating the First Responders in our area, backyard BBQ yummies, and the casino poke run.
