Who does not welcome September? The air is a little clearer, the temperatures a little cooler, and the scent of pumpkin spice passes through the door of every candle and coffee shop in town. Trees begin practicing for their annual pageant of brilliant colors of red and gold. Here at the campground, September is a month of recovery, reflection and preparation. With children back in school, weekday camping is perfect for those members who enjoy a more peaceful and quiet experience. Weekends remain lively, with children enjoying playing kickball at the playground and riding their bikes in the hint of an autumn crisp. Folks gather around our beautiful new community firepit or enjoy a campfire by their site. For the staff, September provides a brief moment to exhale, recover, and reflect on events and projects over the busy season. One of the things we are so proud of is your commitment to the GBR Gives Back Program. So far this year our members have supported so many local community programs including the PA Wounded Warriors Program, and the Adams County Women’s Cancer Coalition. Most recently at our County Fair Weekend members lined up to drop GBR staff in the dunk tank!   Not only did they have a great time; but they also raised $600 for the Adam County Friends of 4-H. This program ensures any child who wants to join 4-H or attend a 4-H event, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. The Petting Zoo put out a donation jar, raised $56, and requested it be donated to an organization supporting cancer patients. September is also a month of preparation for we have a 2nd mini-busy season; otherwise known as the three weekends of Halloween!

Our themed weekends in September include Labor Day of course! We will be hosting some amazing trucks and their drivers for our Touch A Truck event! Next is our GBR Goes Global Weekend, where we explore and celebrate different cultures worldwide. Members are going to love learning about Scotland and play some Highland Games! September 15-17th is our Pamper Your Pet Weekend and our famous Doggie Paddle! During our Pamper Your Pet Weekend, there will be many opportunities to participate in our GBR Gives Back program by supporting the Adams County Animal Shelter. September 22-24, we will be calling on all the muses to help us celebrate the arts! Finally, we end September with our 3rd Annual Wine and Cheese Festival! Bouchette Winery is bringing their wine slushy machine, just saying!
